Model Home Event Showcases Residential Fire Sprinkler System

September 1, 2005 - Slinger, WI
Through a partnership between the Home Fire Sprinkler Coalition's (HFSC) Built for Life pilot program and Brookstone Homes, a grand opening event will be held on Saturday, September 17, at Brookstone's Cedar Bluff's development in Slinger. The event will showcase a model home equipped with a residential fire sprinkler system. Brookstone Homes is currently the only builder in Wisconsin to offer residential fire sprinklers as a standard option in their new homes.

The Built for Life pilot program was developed to educate builders and consumers on the lifesaving benefits of residential fire sprinkler systems. The project is funded through a Fire Prevention Grant from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and is being conducted in ten markets throughout the country.

"By equipping our new model home with the sprinkler system, it allows us to educate home shoppers on a new lifesaving option that, until now, has not been readily available by builders in the area," says Scott Thistle, President of Brookstone Homes. "We understand that fire safety is an important issue for our customers and we are excited to have the ability to offer this new option in our homes."

The event will feature Brookstone's model home equipped with a fire sprinkler system along with information on how it can protect homeowners and their property. A sprinkler demonstration trailer will be on site showing live sprinkler activations caused by fire and the Slinger Fire Department will be on hand with their fire trucks to talk with children about fire safety.

The model home will be available for viewing from 11:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. with sprinkler demonstrations and education from the fire department beginning at noon until 3:00 p.m. Cedar Bluffs is located one-half mile north of Highway 60, approximately one mile east of U.S. Highway 41.
