Brookstone Homes Offers Unprecedented Energy Savings Through ENERGY STAR Certification

January 1, 2008 - Brookstone Homes, Inc. is proud to announce its 100% dedication to the ENERGY STAR® certification from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). ENERGY STAR is a 16-year-old joint program of the EPA and the U.S. Department of Energy that helps consumers save money and protect the environment through energy efficient products and practices. "Building more energy-efficient homes is the right thing to do -- we’re cutting energy waste while saving our clients money on their energy bills," explains Scott Thistle, President of Brookstone Homes, Inc. "All our new homes will be ENERGY STAR rated. With the average homeowner annually paying $1,900 on energy bills, we feel it’s our responsibility to build smarter to help us all save resources."

Home energy consumption accounts for nearly 17 percent of the total U.S. greenhouse gas emissions and 21 percent of energy use nationwide. Homes that earn the ENERGY STAR rating offer homeowners energy-efficient improvements that deliver better performance, greater comfort, and lower utility bills. To earn the ENERGY STAR certification, homes must be independently verified as meeting EPA's strict guidelines for energy efficiency. Brookstone’s ENERGY STAR labeled homes achieve energy savings and climate benefits through improved air sealing and insulation techniques, high-quality windows and doors, high-efficiency heating and cooling systems, well-sealed duct systems and ENERGY STAR-qualified appliances and lighting.

For more than a decade, the EPA has been working with home building professionals to achieve increased energy efficiency. Today, there are ENERGY STAR qualified homes in every state across the country. The EPA started the ENERGY STAR program in 1992 as a market-based approach to reducing greenhouse gas emissions through energy efficiency.

Brookstone Homes was established in 1994 and has seventeen community locations throughout southern Wisconsin. Homebuyers can choose from more than 20 home plans, and then personalize their home by choosing any number of options. Brookstone Homes also offers buyers 24/7 access to information about their home’s progress. Each buyer is provided with a personalized website, called My New Home, where they can get the most current status of their home, view progress photos, and more.
